Severely criticising “sealed cover” proceedings, the Supreme Court Wednesday barred the government from using “national security” as a pretext to use the procedure and keep an aggrieved litigant in the dark about the reasons behind contested action. “The state is using national security as a tool to deny citizens remedies provided under the law. This is not compatible with the rule of law,” it said.
